Western Telegraph – Open Day – Wedding Celebrations

The Regency Hall will be celebrating 6 years of opening this September, and as a thank you for all who support us, whether it be attending classes and events, or as a class tutor, we will be holding an Open Day. This is an opportunity for all involved to showcase their classes or charities, and for interested members of the community to visit and see what the Hall has to offer.

The Royal Photographic Society South Wales Regional Group present a day with renowned British photographer Martin Parr on Saturday 30 March at Saundersfoot Regency Hall. The day’s events include an ‘Introduction to Martin Parr’ a talk by Emeritus Professor of Photography Andrea Liggins, Swansea College of Art, a presentation by Martin of his work followed by a book signing, finger buffet lunch and a seminar on the Martin Parr Foundation in Bristol.
Martin Parr is a world-renowned documentary photographer, photojournalist and photobook collector. He is known for his photographic projects that take an intimate, satirical and anthropological look at aspects of modern life documenting the social classes of England, and more broadly the wealth of the Western world.
His major projects have been rural communities (1975–82), The Last Resort (1983–85), The Cost of Living (1987–89), Small World (1987–94) and Common Sense (1995–99). Since 1994, Martin has been a member of Magnum Photos the prestigious photographic agency. He has had 40 solo photobooks published and has featured in 80 exhibitions worldwide.
The Martin Parr Foundation, founded in 2014, opened premises in his hometown of Bristol in 2017. It houses his own archive, his collection of British and Irish photography by other photographers, and a gallery. It is located next to the newly opened Royal Photographic Society at Paintworks Creative Quarter, Arnos Vale.
The Royal Photographic Society is an international charity founded in 1853 to promote the art and the science of photography, RPS groups, regions and chapters assist the organisation in reaching its goal to share a passion for photography with the wider public through events. The RPS has 11,300 members worldwide and membership is open to anyone regardless of their photographic experience. • The Royal Photographic Society is the world’s oldest photography organisation formed in 1853. It is a registered charity no. 1107831 and exists to educate members of the public by increasing their knowledge and understanding of photography and in doing so to promote the highest standards of achievement in photography in order to encourage the public appreciation of photography.

• The RPS has a membership of over 11,300 internationally. Membership is open to all, irrespective of experience or knowledge. No qualifications are required to join, simply a passion and love for photography or images, its technologies or applications. Members will gain free admission to the new building.

South Wales Gay Men’s Chorus (“SWGMC”)

Anaward winning and talented male voice choir from Cardiff who were crowned Festival Champions at the Cornwall International Male Choral competition in May 2017.

Both choirs sing a wide range of well known Welsh, classical and modern songs.
A moving and enjoyable evening is guaranteed from these talented, entertaining, innovative and dedicated choirs.
